Teens are invited to attend and participate in writers workshops and open mics.
Wired: Writers Workshops
Every 3rd Thursdays of each month, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Fenix Youth Project Inc. co hosts monthly writing workshops on 3rd Thursday of every month. All ages and writing levels welcome; no need to RSVP. FREE! Just come ready to write! The facilitator will supply the writing prompt(s) and attendees are invited to write from them. While all are encouraged to share what they wrote, it is not required.

Youth-Led Open Mics
Held monthly on the 4th Tuesday of every month at 5:45pm - Youth-focused and youth-led, Youth Open Mic is a monthly series that features student poets, singers, musicians, and actors from the Wicomico Co. area. Middle school and high school students are encouraged to come share their art in our supportive, progressive, artistic atmosphere. Youth Open Mic is presented by Fenix Youth Project Inc. and hosted by the Rize Youth Poetry Team. In partnership with Wicomico County Public Libraries.

Community-Based Youth Poetry Team
Through team meetings, this program not only focuses on writing, but on students collaborating with one another to create group poems, accept and give feedback, and learn how to perform their own writing in a way that effectively impacts an audience.

2019 Rize Youth Slam Poetry Team

interested in joining the team?
This program is for any student who writes poetry or hip-hop and is interested in how their work can impact their community. Students compete in preliminary slams to get on the team and then attend writing and performance workshops to prepare for Brave New Voices International Festival that happens every summer.
