Volunteers Needed for Writing Workshops – Make a Difference from Anywhere!

Are you passionate about poetry and creative writing? Do you have experience in guiding others through the art of self-expression and storytelling? We need you! Fenix Youth Project is seeking volunteers for our Rhyme Rhythm Redemption Writing Workshops, held virtually every Wednesday from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Whether you're across the street or across the globe, this is your opportunity to help shape the futures of young people in our community.

What is Rhyme Rhythm Redemption?

Rhyme Rhythm Redemption is a powerful, arts-based program designed to give young people the tools to express themselves through poetry and creative writing. Through weekly workshops, participants engage in the healing and transformative power of words, learning to channel their emotions and experiences into poetry. This program not only cultivates artistic expression but also builds critical thinking and communication skills that are essential for personal growth and success.

The workshops are a safe space for youth to explore their identities, struggles, and dreams while fostering a sense of community and belonging. By guiding participants in the art of creative writing, we’re helping them discover healthier ways to cope with challenges they face, particularly those related to trauma, gang violence, and the risk of incarceration.

Why Does This Matter?

Youth who are at risk of entering the justice system or getting involved in gangs often lack the support and mentorship that could guide them to a different path. Rhyme Rhythm Redemption aims to intervene before these young people go down a destructive road. Through writing, they can reframe their narratives, build confidence, and find a sense of purpose. Poetry has the power to show them that they are more than their circumstances—that their voices matter.

By volunteering with this program, you’ll be playing an integral role in helping divert youth from the harmful cycle of incarceration and violence. Your expertise can help them unlock their potential, leading them toward positive futures and away from pathways that limit their opportunities.

How You Can Make an Impact

As a volunteer, you’ll work alongside young people as they discover the art of poetry and creative writing. You’ll provide guidance, feedback, and encouragement to help them refine their work and express themselves in meaningful ways. No matter where you are in the world, you can make a lasting impact on these youth’s lives by simply sharing your knowledge and passion for writing.

We are looking for volunteers with experience in:

  • Poetry writing

  • Creative writing

  • Mentorship and youth engagement

If you have a love for the written word and a commitment to empowering youth, your involvement will make a real difference.

Join Us in Building a Stronger, Safer Community

By volunteering for the Rhyme Rhythm Redemption Writing Workshops, you will contribute directly to creating a safer, more inclusive community. Your time and expertise will help youth explore their creativity, find new ways to express themselves, and ultimately divert from harmful situations. With your support, we can offer these young people the opportunity for a brighter future—one where their voices are heard, and their paths are guided by hope, not hardship.

Ready to make a difference? Sign up today and help us ignite the power of poetry to transform lives!

Helping Youth Secure Their Futures with Transportation

Helping Youth Secure Their Futures with Transportation

In today's fast-paced world, landing a job can be a challenging endeavor, especially for our youth who are striving to establish themselves in the professional arena. The Fenix Youth Project has always been dedicated to nurturing the potential of young individuals and empowering them to achieve their dreams. However, there is a growing concern that some of our most committed youth are facing unnecessary hurdles in their journey toward a better future. The frustration mounts as they repeatedly miss out on crucial job interviews due to the lack of adequate transportation.

The Transportation Barrier

Imagine being an ambitious young person who has diligently prepared for a job interview that could be your ticket to financial stability and independence. You've polished your resume, practiced your interview skills, and are ready to put your best foot forward. But there's a problem – you can't get to the interview because you lack reliable transportation.

This is an unfortunate reality for some of the youth involved in the Fenix Youth Project. Despite their passion, determination, and enthusiasm to secure a job, they often find themselves trapped by the transportation barrier. They are unable to access crucial opportunities that could change the course of their lives simply because they cannot get to the places they need to be.

The Call to Action

We cannot stand by and watch as our committed youth continue to face these unnecessary obstacles. It's time for us to come together as a community and bridge the transportation gap that is hindering their progress.

We are excited to introduce a new initiative – the "Rideshare Volunteers for Fenix Youth Project." We are seeking compassionate individuals who are willing to donate their time and resources to ensure that our youth can access the opportunities they deserve. By signing up as a volunteer, you can make a significant difference in the lives of these young individuals and help them secure their futures.

How Can You Help?

Becoming a Rideshare Volunteer is a simple yet impactful way to contribute to the Fenix Youth Project. Your commitment can mean the world to a young person who is eager to step into the workforce and build a better life. Here's how you can get involved:

  • Spread the Word: Share this initiative with your friends, family, and social networks to encourage more volunteers to join us in supporting our youth.

Our youth are the future, and we cannot afford to let them miss out on opportunities that can set them on the path to success. By becoming a Rideshare Volunteer for Fenix Youth Project, you can play a vital role in breaking down the transportation barrier that is holding our youth back. Let's come together as a community, extend a helping hand, and empower these young individuals to reach their full potential. Your support can make all the difference.

Don't hesitate – reach out to TY at ty@fenixyouthproject.org or (443) 736-7028 today and be a part of this transformative journey. Together, we can ensure that every youth has the chance to secure their future.

Why Host Homes?

Why Host Homes? Host home programs are a promising addition to the array of housing options available to youth. Broadly, host home programs partner with community members, or hosts, who provide housing for a young person in their home. Program staff supports both the host and the youth by helping to set up housing agreements, provide financial support, connect youth to other services, and mediating conflict.

One of the main benefits of the host home model is its relatively low cost compared to brick-and-mortar housing programs and the private rental market. Because youth stay in existing homes or apartments, the programs require no infrastructure investment. Housing programs that seek to place youth in private rented accommodations face the challenge of limited affordable housing options. Host homes can be geographically dispersed, and capacity can grow or shrink according to need. These factors also make the model well-suited to rural areas, which rarely have youth-centered homeless services despite having a similar rate of youth homelessness as cities and suburbs (Morton et al., 2018).

Fenix Youth Project Inc. is recruiting host homes for our 14-24 aged clients!
