This 3 Month talking series aims to empower young artists between ages 16-19 by providing them with practical insights, strategies, and real-world perspectives on turning their artistic passions into successful and sustainable businesses.

Hair Me Out Workshops

Hair Me Out is an innovative program designed to empower and engage youth who have textured hair. This program provides youth with the skills and resources they need to feel confident and proud of their unique hair texture. Hair Me Out is aimed at promoting positive engagement among youth, regardless of their socioeconomic background or housing status.

EmpowerHer Podcast

EmpowerHER program designed to empower and equip a select group of teen girls aged 13-18 with essential life skills, knowledge, and confidence as they transition back into the community from detention placement.The podcast will feature a woman guest on a special topic on sexual safety, positive relationships, good feminine habits, self-empowerment, self-defense, or leadership development. Each participant will get the opportunity to rotate roles and will get experience in hosting, audio and visual recording, and editing.

Boxing Fitness Training

This class is designed for teenagers and young adults who want to improve their fitness, coordination, and confidence through the sport of boxing.

Led by Mr. Kevin Leatherbury, a community boxing fitness trainer, the program combines basic boxing techniques and exercises with fun and challenging workouts that can be customized to different fitness levels and goals. Whether you want to learn self-defense, lose weight, or just have fun, this class is for you.

Rhyme Rhythm Redemption is an innovative initiative dedicated to fostering meaningful connections between youth and adults within the criminal justice system and re-entering society. Our program combines the power of creative writing workshops, digital media training, and intergenerational dialogues to empower young individuals to harness their creative talents for positive change in their communities.

Creative Writing Workshops

Unleash the power of words and self-expression.

Engage in dynamic creative writing sessions where participants explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences through the art of poetry and storytelling. These workshops provide a therapeutic outlet for self-discovery and personal growth.

Digital Media Workshops

Equip youth participants with modern communication tools.

Learn the art of digital storytelling, graphic design, and multimedia production. Youth participants gain valuable skills to amplify their voices, share their narratives, and advocate for change through various online platforms.

Youth & Adult Dialouges

Bridge the gap between generations and promote understanding.

Facilitated open and constructive dialogues between youth and adults, creating a platform for mutual understanding, shared experiences, and collaborative problem-solving. These sessions aim to break down stereotypes and build a supportive community.

  • Anyone between the age of 14 - 24 can participate in a workshop unless otherwise noted. Space is limited in workshops and priority is given to those who are currently involved with the juvenile justice system Anyone can register online to attend a scheduled workshop.

  • Inclusive Atmosphere: Our workshops are inclusive spaces where everyone's voice is valued and respected. Participants can expect a supportive and non-judgmental atmosphere that encourages self-expression and authenticity.

    Interactive Creative Writing Sessions: Dive into dynamic creative writing sessions led by experienced facilitators. Whether you're a seasoned writer or exploring your creativity for the first time, these sessions are tailored to all skill levels. Expect interactive prompts, collaborative activities, and the opportunity to share your unique perspective

    Hands-On Digital Media Training: Get ready to explore the world of digital storytelling and multimedia production. Our digital media workshops provide practical skills in graphic design, video editing, and other digital platforms. Participants can expect hands-on activities that empower them to convey their messages effectively in the digital realm.

    Empowerment and Advocacy Training: Our workshops go beyond creative expression—they empower participants to use their voices for positive change. Expect training sessions on advocacy, community impact, and utilizing creative talents to address social issues.

  • Engage in meaningful conversations with both youth and adult participants. Our intergenerational dialogues provide a space for open communication, sharing experiences, and building connections. Participants can expect to gain insights, foster understanding, and create a supportive community.

  • For a fee, Fenix Youth Project can facilitate either of the workshops for local church groups, youth programs, youth-serving agencies, and community partners.

    What can you expect from Fenix upon booking an R.R.R. Workshop?

    The Volunteer Youth Advocate assigned to your session will give you a call to gather more information about the group participants or help you develop a strategy to recruit youth who will benefit the most from the session. We offer this to small groups and large groups. Based on the information gathered, the youth advocate will provide you will a workshop agenda that includes the activity list. If you would like to book a session for a large group, please consider booking a multi-day session.

    What happens after the session?

    We are in it for the long haul. The assigned youth advocate will remain in contact with the group participants and connect them to any additional resources needed. All participants have an opportunity to participate in community-based programming and/or have their projects created during the sessions featured and showcased at the Youth Voices Unleashed: Youth Artist and Poetry Showcase on April 20, 2024.
