A Night Without a Bed. A Community That Won't Look Away

Why do communities Sleep Out?

Because Every young person deserves a safe place to call home.

Youth homelessness is more than the absence of a roof. It can mean uncertainty about where to sleep, where the next meal will come from, whether it's safe to ask for help, or whether anyone will notice when a young person is struggling.

On Maryland's Eastern Shore, young people experiencing homelessness deserve to be

2,243 MD Eastern Shore students were experiencing homelessness in 2024-2025.

Schools in the Eastern Shore’s eight counties (Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico, and Worcester).

Wicomico, the Shore’s largest county, went from 778 to 926.

This is why you should sleep out.

Join us on November 3, 2026, at the Junior Achievement Center to register for the sleep-out in person at our community film screening of The Homestretch.

Young people experiencing homelessness are more than statistics. They are experts in their own experiences, leaders in their communities, and essential partners in building solutions that work. Yet, too often, decisions about youth homelessness are made without the meaningful involvement of the young people most affected.

Through a partnership between Fenix Youth Project Inc. and Minary's Dream Alliance, we are supporting the Eastern Shore Youth Action Board and working to elevate the voices, experiences, and perspectives of young people across our region.

The Youth Action Board creates an opportunity for young people to help shape conversations, identify community needs, and inform the strategies and systems intended to support them.

Because young people should not simply be the subjects of conversations about homelessness. They should have a meaningful role in shaping the solutions.

Nothing About Young People Without Young People.
